Dr. Thompson offers psychological evaluations and testing batteries for men, women, and children.
Here’s what Dr. Thompson has to say about psychological evaluations, “As a clinical psychologist, I was thoroughly trained and am experienced in psychological evaluation of adults and children regardless of gender.”
A referral for testing can come from a variety of sources, including yourself, a physician, or a school/university. Some common reasons for testing referrals are:
- Problems with attention or concentration
- Problems in learning, in one or more areas
- Developmental delays
- Persistent emotional or psychological disturbance
- Persistent social problems with peers and/or authority
Psychological testing can answer a wide variety of questions about the way you or your child functions at home, at school, and with other people.
Each test battery is individualized. If you are seeking a psychological evaluation, you must call and briefly explain your concerns. Dr. Thompson will then review your request and determine whether your concerns are within her scope of practice. If so, she will send you an invitation to the client portal for completion of initial paperwork including insurance information, check your insurance coverage, and schedule your first appointment. In all, you will be scheduled for three appointments:
- An initial clinical interview (approximately one hour in length)
- A testing appointment (length varies, but you should set aside at least 3 hours)
- A feedback session
FEES:
- If you are paying out of pocket, you will receive a package price based on an estimate of the number of hours Dr. Thompson will spend on your evaluation. This price is individualized depending on factors such as: what questions the evaluation must answer, the demands of the referral source (doctor’s office, university, etc.), and whether it is a child or adult evaluation.
- One-half of the package price is due at the initial clinical interview. The remaining half of the price is due at the testing appointment.
- If you are using insurance, your insurer determines your portion of the fee. For most people, there will be a co-pay for each appointment.
- Late-cancellation/no-show fees are applicable for each of the three appointments.
